Family is History

by Terrie Lynn Bittner

I love history, so it's natural that I would also love genealogy. After all, genealogy makes history personal. My family is a part of the history of each place they live. Some even get brief mentions in the history books, but famous, infamous, or unknown, they are my family and they contributed to the events of their world.

On this site, I am sharing what research I've done so far. Not all is totally verified--I started this as a teenager before I even knew about things like noting sources. But I'm working on getting all that fixed up.

I don't like my family history to be just names, dates, and places, so you'll also find timelines, connections to the bigger historical picture, profiles, and even a little imagining as I try to turn our ancestors into real people by wondering how they reacted to events in their lives. As a retired homeschooler, mabye someday I'll do some homeschool lessons on them.

Use the links to the left to find your way around. Then use the books and materials on the right to increase your knowledge of genealogy or our family.
